Hello readers, friends, and the Internet community in general,

Just in case you don’t remember me, I’m Tom and this is MuseSpark!  I apologize for my LONG absence; it was a long summer and, so far, it has been a long and hard school year.  BUT, it’s time for another “I promise I’m not dead” post.  I at least owe you that, and an update on what’s going on with me.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading and writing lately, however, my reading is mostly of textbooks and my writing for the past months has consisted almost exclusively of nonfiction essays and lab reports.  Therefore, not too much happening on MuseSpark, or anywhere other than school, for that matter.  On the plus side, I feel that I’ve done a lot of growing up since I last posted here.  I am a more confident, happy individual who isn’t afraid to share his opinion with the world.  That’s why I’m back again, so I can continue to express myself––the new me––as I have in the past.

Thank you to anyone who was concerned about where I was!  You’ll certainly be hearing from me more than you have been lately!  Thanks for sticking with me.

Still Not Dead. Maybe Undead?

Hey all,

You may have noticed I’ve been “absent” for quite a while now.  Please accept my apologies and rest assured that I’ll make up the few posts for postaweek that I missed.  In fact, I’m posting one later today!  My life has just been very hectic and demanding, ergo, blogging wasn’t as big a priority as it has been in the past.  Well, I’m doing my best to get back on track! 🙂

I’m going to try something…I’m overjoyed that MuseSpark is starting to build up a bit of an audience!  So, for those of you that have been supporting me by reading and commenting, thank you so much!  I’ve been hesitant to do this out of fear that I’d get no responses, but I’m going to poll you––What would you like to see more of on this blog?  (Perhaps in the future I’ll create real WordPress polls, but I’ll see how this goes first.)

I’m Not Dead — I Promise!

Hello all,

I know I missed a posting week…I’m going to make it up! Things have just been a little crazy lately, so I haven’t even had a chance to schedule any posts for later dates. I know what my next few posts are going to be, it’s just a matter of finishing/starting them.

While I’m at it I might as well give a quick update–It’s a little late to announce this, but I did change the blog’s theme from “Pilcrow” to “Elegant Grunge.” It was a style choice, really, I just wanted a change. Also, I added a blogroll! Hooray! (You don’t want to know how long it took me to figure out how to use Links. Ugh.) If there’s anything you don’t like about the theme or layout changes, or you’d like to suggest something, just let me know!

I’d feel bad if I didn’t give you guys a little something with this otherwise hasty and unusual post, so…

BAM. I had no idea the Internet was so full of deals on monkeys 😉

So…I’ve Decided to Get into postaweek

Yes, it’s true. I’m going to take it upon myself to post at least once a week for all of 2011. It’s definitely going to be a challenge, but I can do it. The postaweek challenge is just what this blog needs!  If I’m not mistaken I’m already caught up, so I just have to keep posting! 🙂

I’m a fan of postaday’s daily inspirations, but I won’t be using them all the time. I have some ideas that have been collecting dust in the back of my mind for a while, so I start with those. Talk to you soon!

Kay Sparkies, Here’s the Deal.

Oh hi!

 

So, as you may have noticed, I’ve been away for quite some time.  Luckily, MuseSpark hasn’t had to deal with too much traffic for a while, so it;s not like anyone’s been too upset.  At least, I hope no one is offended or anything;)

 

Nonetheless, here’s an update on where I’ve been, what I’ve done, and where I’m going:

 

Last time I posted here, I was hyping up this amazing piece of science-fiction writing.  Well, I finished it–but I don’t have it.  I ended up getting really creative and molded it to fit the requirements for a school assignment, and it turned out GREAT.  Unfortunately, I didn’t think to make copies of it either paper or digital, so alas it is forever lost.  I’m kicking myself and weeping at the same time…GAH!

 

The good news is, since then I have done some pretty neat stuff.  Not only have I been writing, I’ve written some reviews for School Library Journal’s online publication, “SLJ-Teen.”  I’ll see if I can’t post them here for all to see.  I must say it’s quite cool, especially since the books hadn’t come out at the time I reviewed them!  Expect those at some point, as well as some other content I’ve been hiding up my sleeve.

 

I’ve decided to close off “HOD” permanently, mostly because it became a hassle more than anything else to put up a haiku EVERY DAY.  Poetry should be fun.  So I’ve decided to stop forcing myself, and to just post poetry as I please without rushing to meet deadlines.  To make up for it, I think I might start doing some yet-undecided weekly feature post…maybe.  I have a bunch of ideas in the brain bank.

Out With A Bang?

Hi everyone!

I’d like to apologize right now for my not-so-little hiatus.  Totally inappropriate.  In a way this whole thing ended up as a learning experience, though.  I guess I can’t always commit as much as I would like.  (The fact that it’s been weeks since the last HOD is proof enough of my busy lifestyle!)  That’s not going to stop me from posting at all!  I’m still thinking of what to do…some ideas include moving all the haiku to the archive and saving the Poetry page for special occasions, and having a different daily tidbit; Changing the HOD to and HOW (Haiku Of the Week); and having a word of the day.  If any of these stands out as the best option, or you have any other ideas, feel free to let me know!

Now that the apologies and housekeeping are finished, I can say that the fiction I’ve been promising is closer to being published than ever!  I can’t give too much away, but I will say I’ve decided to post it in small chapters to make it easier on the eyes.  (This also means more frequent posting, as to prevent another mini-vacation!)  Check out the art below!

I hope everyone’s as excited about this as I am!  It won’t be long now…
